Government and civil-society partners discussed coordination, sector responsibilities and inland water safety at a national stakeholder meeting.

ADAAM jointly convened the National Drowning Prevention Stakeholders Meeting with GHAI, CEPA and ADVOCEN on 17 July 2026. Participants included the Uganda Police Force Marine Unit, the Ministries of Works and Transport and Water and Environment, and Reach A Hand Uganda.

Discussions addressed coordination between institutions, implementation of water transport safety laws and sector contributions to a national drowning prevention strategy and action plan. ADAAM contributed to the plenary and prepared the meeting report, recording institutional submissions, points of agreement and follow-up actions.

The meeting established a shared direction for continued government-led work. Strategy adoption and implementation decisions remain part of the ongoing national process.
